The Lady Howler soccer team completed the "3-Peat" on Saturday, winning their 3rd straight State Championship by a score 2-0 over previously undefeated Ashland! Both goals were scored from corner kicks, and one in each half. The Lady Howlers struck early, as Lila Cummings scored from a Rylee Moulton corner kick within the first 3 minutes of the game! The duo connected again on a corner kick in the second half with roles reversed, as Moulton headed in a Cummings kick to make the score 2-0...a score that would stand.
Penobscot Valley is the first Northern Maine Class D girl's team to win 3 straight State Championships (no other Northern Maine Class C or B girl's team has accomplished this either), so this has been a historic run for the Lady Howlers! In the past 4 years the team has won the Regional (Northern Maine) Championship all four years as well, and has a record of 63-5-3 in that time. Congratulations girls, you've created a dynasty!
