Gifted and Talented Program Statement of PhilosophyIt is the philosophy of SAD #41 that all children have individual learning styles and needs. Differentiations of curriculum scope and sequence as well as instructional technique are essential in order to assure high levels of engagement and academic achievements. The district recognizes that gifted students have special needs one hundred percent of the time. Adaptations for gifted students will be delivered in addition of existing curriculum through enrichment, expansion, acceleration and exploration by content area. Our Gifted Program provides effective programming for the student population identified as gifted using specific criteria that includes objective and subjective data to identify general intellectual ability, specific academic aptitude and/or artistic ability; this will be achieved by a widely differentiated mix of strategies and programming modifications. Student identification and progress will be monitored in a formal fashion and reviewed annually to ensure that gifted students have the most appropriate educational experience possible to maximize individual potential. ![]() |

The commitment to technology is vital to allow students of all abilities, included gifted, to access to programs, software and experiences specifically geared to their learning styles, strengths and abilities. Various methods will be used to deliver an appropriate individualized learning program to identified gifted students. These include, but are not limited to the following strategies and techniques. |
