New sectional schedule is up on the Middle School Band page.

The Spring Band Concert is less than a month away. It will be Thursday, April 28th at 7:00pm. This performance is required for all band students - see Mr.Venti, or refer to your band handbooks (which are posted on each band page) for more information on concert attendance. We have a lot of work to do and only 9 rehearsals left (including today), so everyone must remain focused and on task during rehearsals. I would like to also remind everyone that practicing, no matter what group you are in, is a requirement and is necessary to ensure that everyone can play their part as best they can. There is no excuse for not knowing a part at a concert. Every monday and wednesday after school is extra help; if you cannot practice at home, or are struggling with a part, you should make arrangements to come. Each group has come a long way this year, so lets keep it up and finish the year strong.

The new sectional schedule for 1/24 - 2/18 is now posted on the middle school band page.

There are also some updates for the basketball game schedule. The girls game against Howland is rescheduled for saturday, the 29th, which is the same day as district 5; therefore, there will be no band at that game.

There was a mistake on the updated basketball game schedule; the game against Orono on monday is at 12:00 JV / 1:30 Varsity. There is otherwise no school on that day as it is Martin Luther King Day.

Exam week information (High School Only):
- Tuesday will be a normal day of classes. It will be a band day, please try to be as prepared as possible with the music for the UMaine trip.
- Wednesday is the first day of exams. Regular chorus will not meet; instead this time will be used to practice District 5 music.
- Thursday: full band will meet to get ready for the UMaine trip.
- Friday: there are no scheduled classes for friday, so I would like to use period one as practice time for the band students going to District 5.

New Calendar Page: I have been experimenting with google calendars as a way to merge the music calendar, basketball calendar, and possible the sectional schedule. Also listed are the days I am available after school for extra help.

Next Saturday (1/22), our pep band has the opportunity to play at a UMaine hockey game with their pep band, as well as bands from other schools in the area. Here is what our schedule will be for that day:

First, there is a home basketball game that afternoon at 1:00 for JV, and 2:30 for Varsity
When that game is over, at about 4:00-4:15, we will depart for Orono
At 5:15, we will rehearse with the other bands
At 6:00, the bands will start playing. Our songs will be Ipso Funko, 99 Red Balloons, and Beat It
At 7:00, the game begins. At half time, the bands will combine.
Depending on how long the game lasts, we should be back to PVS at about 10:00

Permission Slip - Please return this as soon as possible.

I will pass out the music for half time tomorrow, please do the best you can to prepare it. Concession stands will be available during the game, so I suggest each of you bring some money for food. This should be a really fun experience to play in front of a big crowd, hear what other bands sound like, and be part of a huge band when we combine!
