Update "Last
report we were approaching the Florida Keys on foot! I think we are

Not
too late to register for Move and Improve! Even though the official start up date for Move and Improve is Sunday March 6th participants may register online up until midnight on March 21st. That will be the absolute deadline. Even if you would like to participate at the local level we would be happy to have you movin' and improvin' with us. Each week the Wellness Team will do a drawing for a prize, much like last year except there will be some "new and improved" prizes! Make sure that you pick up an activity log at your school office (or download by clicking here), check off the days you participated and return the log to the office for a Friday drawing each week. This is a great time of year to make a new commitment to continue or start being physically active. Join the Wellness Team in this great effort! |

Wear your Pedometer Join Your Wellness Team on Pedometer Days! Log your miles and turn the total for the day into the Move and Improve folder on FirstClass. How long will it take MSAD #41 to reach Key West? |
On Our Weigh! The M.S.A.D. # 41 Wellness Team has been awarded a grant from the Piscataquis Public Health Council , a Healthy Maine Partnership, for a weekly group meeting for those interested in weight loss, exercise and overall life style changes to promote good health. The group began on February 1, 2005. The meetings are held on Tuesday afternoons beginning at 3:00 pm at the Milo Elementary Gym. There is an opportunity for weekly weigh in, recipe exchanges, physical activity for those who are interested. There are speakers as well on some weeks. There is no charge for participation and the group is open to all MSAD #41 community members. The program will meet for 52 weeks. |
| The
Wellness Team challenges all MSAD 41 staff members to wear their pedometers
every day and at the end of each week log your steps with Ginny Morrill.
10,000 steps a day is recommended for optimum health benefits, but we
are encouraging you to try for 5,000 a day! That is approximately 2 miles.
You may record steps taken during school hours, but also those you take
as part of your daily exercise outside of school hours. If you choose
not to wear a pedometer but still wish to participate just log number
of miles walked with Ginny.
MSAD 41 staff have done very well with the Move and Improve program each year but it is important that we continue that motivation all through the year! The Pedometer Challenge is one way to get ready to Move and Improve in 2005. |
